Salim Chisti was a sufi saint in Sikri, to whom Akbar prayed for a son as he did not have any son till then. As said, Saint Salim Chisti blessed Akbar and soon he was blessed with the birth of Jahangir, who was also named was Salim. One of the daughters of Sant Chisti was a foster mother of Prince Salim and he was deeply attached to his foster mother. Earlier Akbar constructed the Salim Chisti Mazar or tomb with Red sandstone but later Jahangir renovated it with white marble. The tomb is a symbol of honour to the saint Salim Chisti and his family, then and even now. These days, only Chisti family members are allowed to be graved at this historical Mazar. UNESCO declared this as World Heritage site for its richness in inscriptions.
